Job Description
We are hiring a Media Traffic Technology Manager that will be supporting NBC's 24/7 Media Traffic Control (MTC) Group. This role requires working in a fast-paced operations environment. This is a hybrid assignment at our 30 Rockefeller Center facility in NYC working in office a minimum of 4 days per week.
Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on system/workflow/process for Media Traffic Control, updating SOP as new technology or workflow needs evolve.
  • Manage any troubleshooting process for all remotes into 30 Rock by partnering with MTC to engage field operations, IT teams, and other maintenance teams, both within and outside 30 Rock.
  • Supervise and work with vendors to ensure problem determination and resolution with hardware and software.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and upkeep of all MTC Support Systems and tools, including upgrades.
  • Integrate any NBC Field Operations Systems or new technologies into a seamless workflow for Operations.
  • Provide leadership and work guidance as well as training for less experienced personnel across multiple departments and clients.
  • Act as project manager, oversee contribution systems installations and upgrades as needed, while advocating the needs of MTC
  • Produce and help organize documentation related to system overview, configuration, policies and procedures.
  • Equipment testing and configuration as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications :
  • Comprehensive understanding of live broadcast encoding and decoding systems, video over IP systems and protocols (UDP, RTP, SRT, etc).
  • Understanding of RF systems, signal flow and video routing.
  • Conceptual knowledge of TCP/IP, Cisco network infrastructure, routing techniques & IP Security concepts.
  • Understanding of database structure and concepts.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating system from a basic support standpoint.
  • Record of managing a project within timeline and budget constraints.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills required.
  • Must be available for breaking news coverage when required
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment with engineers, Operations, IT and other departments.

Desired Characteristics
  • BA/BS or above in related field
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to ever-changing media environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in a "live" broadcast environment
  • Proficient in MS Office, and a working knowledge of either AutoCAD or MS Vizio.
  • Understanding of broadcast remote control technology, SNMP, API communications.
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience with basic level coding (HTML, XML, C#)

Additional Information
This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
