Summary Our Product Strategy team shapes the future of Guidewire’s analytics and pricing solutions for the global P&C insurance market, with a particular focus on AI-powered pricing, rating, and underwriting products. As a Senior Actuarial Consultant, you will lead complex predictive modeling and actuarial analyses that inform our product roadmap and help customers unlock value from Guidewire’s analytics and pricing solutions. You’ll partner directly with insurers, product managers, sales, and professional services to translate actuarial insight into practical, high-impact business solutions. This role is ideal for a P&C actuary who enjoys both hands-on modeling and consultative, customer-facing work in a dynamic, AI-enhanced product environment. This position requires advanced statistical modeling skills, strong communication skills, project management, planning and organizational skills. This person must be able to prioritize, take initiative and solve problems under pressure. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively explain modelling concepts in an educational/consultative manner to external (and internal) customers that are not as analytically sophisticated in addition to those that are very sophisticated.Job Description What you’ll do - Advise insurers and internal stakeholders on the design, interpretation, and application of advanced analytics in pricing, risk rating, and operational modeling, connecting actuarial insights to clear business outcomes. - Experience using statistical modeling tools such as Emblem, DataRobot, Akur8, Earnix, SAS or others. Python and R modeling are not required but are a plus. - Analyze customer data for statistical validity and credibility, including data quality, segmentation, and model performance, ensuring that outputs are robust, explainable, and aligned with insurance best practices. - Partner with Sales and Go-To-Market teams to support prospect and renewal conversations, including discovery, presentation of analytical findings, and responding to detailed actuarial and technical questions. - Lead or contribute to client-facing meetings, workshops, and presentations—simplifying sophisticated modeling concepts for diverse audiences while also engaging deeply with highly technical stakeholders. - Provide structured feedback to Product Management and Product Strategy on customer needs, emerging actuarial methods, and opportunities to embed AI, cloud, and data capabilities in our pricing and analytics products, including new categories like Pricing/Rating and Underwriting. - Collaborate across Product Strategy, Product Development & Operations, and Professional Services to help ensure our solutions are secure, scalable, and measurably improve customer outcomes, including international expansion efforts and AI-enabled features. - Work with data from multiple sources using SQL and, where helpful, Python or R, ensuring data is ready for modeling and aligned with Guidewire’s standards for accuracy, governance, and auditability. - At Guidewire, we foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and responsible use of AI—empowering our teams to continuously leverage emerging technologies and data-driven insights to enhance productivity and outcomes. What you’ll bring Required - Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement. - 7–12 years of actuarial experience in property and casualty insurance and/or actuarial consulting, with a focus on pricing, portfolio analysis, or related analytics. - Deep experience with statistical modeling tools such as Emblem, DataRobot, Akur8, Earnix, SAS, or equivalent, with comfort evaluating and comparing different modeling approaches. - Strong knowledge of P&C insurance underwriting, risk selection, and pricing practices, including experience analyzing portfolios for profit and loss and performance drivers. - Proven ability to translate actuarial and modeling concepts into practical business language for non-technical stakeholders, both in writing and in presentations. - Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with experience leading client-facing discussions, workshops, or steering sessions. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize under pressure, and operate independently while collaborating effectively in a cross-functional, global environment. - Experience working with data using SQL and an analytical mindset committed to data quality, validation, and traceability. - Ability to travel up to 10%, within the USA and internationally, for customer meetings, workshops, and internal collaboration. Preferred - ACAS or FCAS strongly preferred; near-ACAS candidates with substantial relevant experience will be considered. CSPA is a plus. - Hands-on experience using Python or R for actuarial or predictive modeling, experimentation, or data preparation. - Prior experience with pricing or rating platforms, rating engines, or insurance software implementations. - Background working with cloud-based or AI-enabled analytics products, or experience partnering with product and engineering teams to shape features. - Experience supporting international markets (for example, London, continental Europe, Japan, or Australia) and understanding of regional pricing and regulatory nuances. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $145,000 - $248,000. Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan.
