Purpose of Role

The Key Account Manager, Canada serves as the primary commercial lead for strategic Canadian retail partners, based in Quebec. This role is responsible for managing and growing the Sports Experts business.

The role develops and executes account strategies that drive profitable growth, optimize assortments, and strengthen long-term retail partnerships within the Canadian market. By leveraging retail analytics, consumer insights, and cross-functional collaboration, the Key Account Manager ensures alignment between brand objectives and retailer strategies-delivering results that accelerates brand growth and maximizes performance across key Canadian accounts, primarily Sports Experts.

Your Impact

  • Own and grow the Sports Experts business, while supporting the overall relationship with all franchisees, driving both top-line sales and profitable growth within Canada.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans tailored to the Canadian retail landscape, aligning seasonal assortments, pricing, and promotional strategies with the objectives of Sports Experts.
  • Leverage retail math, data analytics, and consumer insights to inform business decisions, optimize assortments, and improve sell-through and inventory productivity.
  • Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with key merchant, planning, operations stakeholders and Franchisee staff at Sports Experts, serving as the primary point of contact for the brand.
  • Deliver accurate quarterly and seasonal forecasts, business reviews, and performance recaps, identifying risks and opportunities to drive agile decision-making and achieve revenue targets.
  • Partner closely with internal teams-including customer service, demand planning, operations, marketing, finance, and retail activation-to ensure alignment on product flow, forecasting, marketing initiatives, and account needs.
  • Support in-store execution by collaborating with retail activation, visual merchandising, and training teams to drive strong brand presentation and consumer engagement across Sports Experts locations.
  • Manage account operational requirements including order management, shipping coordination, returns, and chargebacks, ensuring compliance with retailer processes and strong operational performance.
  • Monitor competitive activity and the evolving Canadian retail environment, providing insights that inform strategy and strengthen the brand's market position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with typically 8 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with typically 6 years of relevant experience, OR Typically 12 years of relevant work experience without degree.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field (Master's considered an asset).
  • 5+ years of experience in sales or key account management, preferably within the sports apparel, footwear, or sporting goods industry.
  • Demonstrated success managing large retail partners and driving profitable growth across sales, margin, and inventory productivity.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to leverage retail math, financial analysis, and sales data to influence decisions and deliver results.
  • Proven experience working with major Canadian retail partners such as Sports Experts, or similar national accounts is an asset.
  • Highly effective communicator with strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, capable of influencing both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confident presenter able to communicate business insights and strategies clearly to different audiences, from buyers and planners to senior leadership, in English and French.
  • Solid understanding of retail merchandising and assortment planning, including sell-through management, space planning, and inventory turns.
  • Awareness of the competitive Canadian retail landscape and evolving consumer trends within the sport and active lifestyle categories.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Base Compensation

$110,000.00-$140,000.00 CAD

Most new hires fall within this range and have the opportunity to earn more over time. Initial placement within the salary range, however, is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills and experience for the position.
